Former Chief of Staff and Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Transportation
Mohsin Raza Syed previously served in the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Transportation and, before that, as the U.S. Senate-confirmed Assistant Secretary for Governmental Affairs.
Mohsin has held senior positions on Capitol Hill, including Majority Chief Counsel for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Minority Staff Director for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s Subcommittee on Aviation Operations, Safety, and Security, and Legislative Counsel to a U.S. Senator. Earlier in his career, he served as a career Attorney-Advisor in USDOT’s Office of the General Counsel, an attorney in private practice, and an intelligence officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Mohsin earned his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Virginia and completed UVA’s Sorensen Institute for Civic Leadership Political Leaders Program in 2024.
Mohsin serves on Joby Aviation’s Aviation and Policy Advisory Board and on the boards of the Virginia Health Care Foundation and Advance Arlington. He was appointed to the University of Virginia Board of Visitors by Governor Abigail Spanberger in 2026.
Mohsin grew up in Prince William County and resides in Arlington with his wife and their three sons.
